Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that demonetization has destroyed black-money, terror funding and human trafficking in one stroke. Addressing a Parivartan rally in Dehradun after laying the foundation stone of all - weather road for Chardham pilgrimage today, Mr. Modi targeted parties who are opposing the note ban. He said, some people are upset as the government's decision has struck the ring leader of thieves.
The Prime Minister said, he is fulfilling his duties of a watchman to get rid of black money and dark hearts which have ruined the country. He said, the demonetization is a step towards empowering the country's honest people.
The Prime Minister said, the 12000 crore rupees Chardham Highway Project will drive Uttarakhand to new peak of development and ensure uninterrupted all weather safe journey for pilgrims to the Himalayan shrines of Badrinath, Gangotri, Yamunotri and Kedarnath. He said, the project will also create huge job opportunities for the youth so that they are not forced to leave their state.
Mr. Modi said, the project will allow uninterrupted access for pilgrims to the four Himalayan shrines of which bore the brunt of devastating floods in 2013.

The session was organized by NITI Aayog on the theme Economic Policy and the Road Ahead. In his intervention, Mr Modi said, the government has advanced the budget presentation schedule as the budget cycle has an effect on the real economy. He said, in the existing budget calendar, the authorization of expenditure comes with the onset of the monsoon which results in government programmes being relatively inactive in the productive pre-monsoon months. The Prime Minister said, the advancement of budget presentation will help authorization of expenditure by the time the new financial year begins.
During the session, the participants shared their views on various economic themes including agriculture, skill development and job creation, taxation and tariff related matters, education, digital technology, housing, tourism and future steps for growth.
Later talking to reporters after the meeting, NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Arvind Panagariya said, the experts gave suggestions to double farmers' income and agriculture market reforms and shifting towards high value agri products. He said, digital payments for farmers was also discussed.
The experts focused on major to meet slated goals of doubling farmer income by 2022. Some of the suggestions were agricultural marketing, reforms was very important. There are some suggestions. aslo on shifts towards high value agricultural products, greater market support price support schemes some discussion of mirco irrigation, digital payment to farmers.

Addressing a function in Chennai, he said multilateral global economic fora have projected India as the favourable business destination. Touching upon demonetization, he said, the interest of honest tax payers will be secured. It will ensure transparency in financial transaction.

Addressing a press conference in New Delhi along with other opposition parties including TMC and RJD, Mr Gandhi said along with fighting corruption, the Prime Minister should also answer allegations of personal corruption against him. He hit out at the government on demonetization scheme saying it has failed to curb black money. Mr Gandhi said Prime Minister Modi should disclose the real reason for demonetisation, and answer who is responsible for sufferings of poor people.
"Prime Minister must clearly explain what are the benefits of this decision. The entire opposition is united. We are fighting the Prime Minister and we are standing for the poor people of this country."
Speaking on the occasion, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee asked whether Mr Modi will take responsibility and resign if things remain unresolved even after 50 days. She alleged that demonetisation is a mega scam and accused the Central government of destroying the federal structure of the country.
Meanwhile, BJP countered Rahul Gandhi asking him to state his stand on 2G scam and Coalgate which took place during UPA regime. Talking to media, party leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said Mr Gandhi's remarks against the Prime Minister show his political immaturity.
"Jo gubbara vipaksh ki unity kaa phata hai yeh jaldi hi Congress paryt ki haisiyat ko spasht karega. Every day it is increasingly evident that Rahul Gandhi's utterences are lacking the maturity and gravatas."

The BJP today said BSP chief Mayawati cannot hide corruption in the garb of Dalit cause. Briefing reporters in New Delhi, senior BJP leader and Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said, development of Dalits and underprivileged should not be mortgaged by any political party for vote politics.
"Dalit vikas brashtachar ka paryay nahi banna chahiye. The development of the Schedule Caste people, the deprived people should not be mortgaged to corruption of one party or leader. Ye baat hum bohat vinamrata se kehna chahenge."
Mr Prasad said, the allegations leveled by Ms Mayawati against the Prime Minister are politically motivated. He claimed that the people of Uttar Pradesh are with the Narendra Modi government on the issue of demonetization and they also want change of government in the state.
Earlier today, while talking to mediapersons in Lucknow, Ms. Mayawati charged the Centre with misusing the Enforcement Directorate.
Ms. Mayawati alleged that the BJP wants to tarnish her image ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. The Enforcement Directorate had yesterday detected huge cash deposits in BSP bank accounts. Ms. Mayawati claimed that the money was collected from party membership before the note ban.

The Home Ministry has cancelled licences of 20 thousand NGOs for violation of Foreign Contribution Regulation Act. Now, these NGOs will not be eligible to receive foreign funds. A senior Home Ministry official said, of the 33 thousand registered organisations in the country, only 13 thousand NGOs are legally valid. The official said, a detailed presentation was given to the Home Minister Rajnath Singh in this regard during a review of the Foreigners Division of the Ministry in New Delhi.
